A week ago we sat wondering what was going on with our daughter. I know that it wasn’t that long ago when missionaries could talk to their families and those that went to visit were out of connection, but I’m so thankful that now we have ways of contact. I have been spoiled having an IT for a husband and each one of my children know how to run computers or go to Daddy for help.
I’m so thankful for Pastor Adil’s family welcoming our daughter into their family and church. Thanks to Sis. Sapir having the same phone as Abigail, she was able to get her phone charged and called me on Friday. I was so overjoyed to hear her voice on the other end. That was the BEST birthday gift a mother could ever want! Then on Saturday she called and I was able to see her and talk with her face to face. Since then we have only missed one day talking and then we texted. I love to hear all about her day and what new things happen.
Several have asked me when she does over there. She is working with two different Kinders (children ages 0-4). She plays and entertains them, sings songs with them, and is helping them learn the English language. She is even learning some Hebrew and Russian while teaching them. She has learned that the word “die” in Hebrew means STOP not DIE. 🙂 She took her guitar with her and will be taking it to the Kinders to use with the children.
Monday nights is woman’s prayer meeting at her place and then Wednesday evening is another service. She is kept pretty busy but really enjoys the work. And the food is really good.
Her luggage got delayed on the way over. Sunday she called upset because she still hadn’t heard and they were closed at the airport. So Daddy started calling to get things taken care of. She had two suitcases and they had all of her belongings and a computer in them. Finally after calling New York, he found that the luggage was at Tel Aviv and would be delivered the next day. Tuesday she still didn’t have her luggage, so Michael once again called New York and they promised to get it delivered on Wednesday. She went to the mountains with one of the ladies from the church on Wednesday and when she got home Pastor Adil had her suitcases. She was sooooo happy!!! Until you have been without your things like that, you have no idea how much some things really mean.
It has been over a week since we put her on that plane to fly to Qiryat Shemona and she has already had so much happen during that week. We are so thankful how God is guiding her life and using her to work with little ones.
We are humbled how he gave us such a young lady with open heart for His people. I’m so looking forward to hearing how next week goes. Each day is a new day and a new adventure. If He calls your teen to be a missionary, please be open to that leading. It is hard to release them, but God has proven over and over how He will provide if we are open to His will and obey.
Thankful to be a TMM
